Protective effect of SA-EE against glutamate-induced toxicity in HT22 cells. Toxicity of SA-EE (a) and glutamate (b) in HT22 cells was determined by MTT assay after treatment at different concentrations for 24 h. Cells were exposed to 5 mM glutamate alone or glutamate in combination with different concentrations of SA-EE for 24 h and then cell viability was measured by MTT (c) and LDH (d) assay. Cell morphology was observed under microscope at 5X magnification (e). All data are shown as the mean ± SEM of at least three independent experiments. ### P < 0.001 vs. control; **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.001 vs. glutamate alone
