Schematic description of the experimental design. After a 1-week adaptation, C57BL/6 N mice were orally treated with vehicle (saline), TCE (100 or 200 mg/kg), or donepezil (5 mg/kg) for 14 days. From day 8, the mice were also treated intraperitoneally with vehicle (saline) or scopolamine (1 mg/kg) for 7 days. The Morris water maze was conducted on days 8–13 to evaluate memory function. All mice were sacrificed on day 14. The hippocampus was then collected for further biochemical analyses. P.O.; per os (by mouth, orally), I.P.; intraperitoneal
