Effect of Phragmitis rhizoma extract on proliferation of splenocytes and thymocytes. Splenocytes (a) or thymocytes (b) were incubated in the presence of Phragmitis rhizoma extract (EPR, 1–100 μg/ml) or its major component of EPR, p-hydroxycinnamic acid (p-HCA, 1–100 μM). Concanavalin A (ConA) was included as a control mitogen. The cell proliferation was determined after 48 h of drug exposure.
