Free radical scavenging activity of C. fistula flower extracts was determined using DPPH assay (a) and ABTS assay (b). 1 mL of 0.002% of DPPH was added to 1 mL of the flower extract solution and it was kept in the dark for 30 min. Absorbance was measured at 517 nm using a spectrophotometer. Percent inhibition of the DPPH radical was calculated and compared with that of standard vitamin E. For ABTS assay, the flower extract was mixed with ABTS solution and was then incubated for 6 min. Absorbance was measured at 734 nm using a spectrophotometer. Percent inhibition of the ABTS radical was calculated and compared with that of the standard trolox. All assays have been demonstrated in triplicate and the mean ± standard deviations are shown as ****p < 0.0001 versus control
