Radical scavenging activity. a-c DPPH free radical scavenging activity of the HPE, DE, and HPE:DE at different concentrations (1–100 μg/mL) was determined for a fixed time (20 min). d-e Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) profiles show the protein obtained without treatment, with Cu2+/H2O2, and at different concentrations of the HPE or DE. Ascorbic acid (Asc. 0.1 mM) and 10 % DMSO were used as positive and vehicle controls, respectively. The final steps included incubating all of the reactants, including BSA, for 2 h, followed by 10 % sodium dodecyl sulfate-PAGE.
