Effect of CIP and IL-1β on MMPs and TIMP-1 expression. Tendon cells (have been incubated with CIP (100 μg/ml) or IL-1β (1 ng/ml) for 48 h. Next, MMP1, MMP2 and MMP3 mRNA levels were determined by RT-PCR (a), and MMP release by ELISA (b). TIMP1 mRNA expression was also determined by RT-PCR (c).
