LPE attenuates H2O2-induced cleavage of PARP and caspase-3 in SH-SY5Y cells. Cells were pretreated with LPE for 6 h, and then co-treated with LPE and 100 μM H2O2 for 24 h. PARP a and caspase-3 b were examined using western blotting. H2O2 treatment alone resulted in PARP and caspase-3 cleavage, indicating that H2O2 induces apoptotic cell death in SH-SY5Y cells. LPE pretreatment protected against H2O2-induced cleavage of PARP and caspase-3. β-Actin was used as a protein loading control. A representative blot is shown from three independent experiments that yielded similar results. Quantification of band densities for cleaved PARP and caspase-3 were measured.
