Mitochondrial dysfunction and the effect on expression of associative proteins after SAMC treatment. (A) The effect of SAMC on ΔΨm by JC-1 staining at the dose of 400 μM at 12 and 24 h. The photos were taken under 40× magnifications by a fluorescence microscope. The intensity of green fluorescence represents the loss of ΔΨm. (B) The loss of ΔΨm analyzed by flow cytometry. (C) MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 were treated with various concentrations of SAMC for 24 h, Bcl-2 family proteins such as Bcl-2, Bax, Bcl-XL and cytochrome C were analyzed by the Western blot assay. The experiments were performed in triplicate and values are expressed as mean ± S.D., *p < 0.05 when compared with control group.
