Effects of hexanic fraction (HEX) and SF5 hexanic subfraction on K562 cell proliferation. (A) 3H-methyl-thymidine incorporation into DNA. (B) Cell cycle analysis. Cells (2.5 × 105/mL) were cultured for 72 h in the absence (control) or presence of different HEX or SF5 concentrations. To each well, 0.25 μCi of 3H-methyl-thymidine was added 24 h before the end of cultures. For cell cycle analysis cells were treated with HEX or SF5, both at 30 μg/mL, for 36 h. Hypodiploid nuclei and debris were discarded from the analysis. Results express means ± SD of three independent experiments. All inhibition indexes were significantly different from control cultures. ap < 0.05 and cp < 0.001 versus HEX fraction by Student’s t test.
